The Diamond Wildcats’ task was clear — stop a young Miller team from claiming its fifth straight district title in volley.

Mission accomplished — in dominating fashion — as Diamond (33-4-1) swept the Cardinals (20-13-2) 3-0 in the Class 2, District 11 championship match on Thursday night at Miller High School in front of a packed gymnasium.

Diamond now awaits the winner of the District 12 tourney, which concludes Monday. The Wildcats will host the state quarterfinal and the winner of District 12 next Thursday for the right to advance to the Final Four.

Miller — which at five students over enrollment limits to remain in Class 1 was moved to Class 2 this year — held an early 3-1 lead in the first set, but relinquished the lead for good at 4-5.
